A tragic accident has claimed the life of 7-year-old Gideon Meyer, who was struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon while playing outside near Prairie Avenue and Summit Avenue in Beloit.

Emergency responders were called to the scene at 4:51 p.m., where Gideon had been hit by a vehicle under circumstances that remain under investigation. He was initially transported to a nearby hospital before being airlifted to UW Health’s American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison due to the severity of his injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical teams, Gideon succumbed to his injuries, which included a deep brain stem injury. His passing has left the Beloit community heartbroken.
According to the City of Beloit Police Department, the driver remained on scene and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting a full accident reconstruction, and the incident remains active as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances.
