Kansas City police have identified the woman shot and killed Wednesday night in the city’s Historic Northeast neighborhood as Braisen Cain, 42.

Officers were called to the 4000 block of Morrell Avenue around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, when they found Cain lying unresponsive on the ground in front of a residence. She was pronounced dead at the scene a few minutes later.
Investigators say Cain had been involved in an altercation with two other individuals shortly before the shooting. Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the dispute. GoFundMe
Detectives have identified a person of interest in the case and are working closely with prosecutors to present evidence for possible charges. Police said efforts are underway to locate and take the individual into custody.
