DENTON, Texas — The City of Denton Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person injured Saturday at Denton Square.

According to police, the incident occurred late Saturday morning along Hickory Street, between Cedar and Elm streets. Officers responded to the scene and detained the suspected shooter, who is reportedly cooperating with the investigation.

Officials say this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. One victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. Their condition has not been released.

The shooting prompted a significant police presence in the area, with Hickory Street closed to traffic between Cedar and Elm as investigators worked the scene. Authorities are asking residents and visitors to avoid the area to allow first responders to conduct their investigation.
