On August 3rd, our lives changed forever. My beloved husband, Andrew Cristillo, was tragically killed in a horrific head-on collision caused by another driver. In an instant, our world was shattered. Our three little girls—Leah, Chloe, and Ella—and I were also injured and rushed to the hospital.
My daughters are now receiving treatment at SickKids Hospital for life-altering injuries, and though we will continue to fight for their recovery, our hearts will always carry an unfillable void where Andrew’s love and laughter once lived.
Andrew was not just my husband; he was my best friend and the love of my life. He stood beside me through every challenge, every triumph, every ordinary day. With him, I felt safe, supported, and deeply loved.
He was the kind of father every child deserves—hands-on, endlessly patient, and fully present. He could be found teaching the girls something new, reading them stories, or getting down on the floor to play, making them laugh until their cheeks ached.
Those who knew Andrew remember his wicked sense of humor and his gift for brightening any room he entered. He was the life of the party, the friend you wanted in your corner, and the person who could lift your spirits even on your darkest days.
Beyond our family, he was a beloved schoolteacher and an active leader in our community, inspiring and guiding countless students with his compassion, wisdom, and dedication.
Andrew’s greatest wish was simple yet profound: for his family to be safe, happy, and cared for. He worked tirelessly to give our daughters the best life and future possible, sacrificing his own comfort for ours without a second thought.
Friends and community members have been sharing heartfelt tributes since his passing:
“Hopefully this is allowed — I knew him growing up. Great person, stand-up individual, a real leader in the community. Beloved schoolteacher. Please donate, or if you cannot, please share to spread the word. This family faces a real uphill battle. The kids have life-altering injuries, and the mother, his wife, is battling breast cancer on top of everything else.”
“My good friend Jordan Cristillo’s brother was tragically killed in a hit-and-run last weekend whilst in the car with his family. He is survived by his loving wife Christina and three beautiful daughters, Leah, Chloe, and Ella, who all suffered life-changing injuries as a result of the collision.”
The tragedy has left us not only in deep grief but also facing tremendous challenges. As we navigate this devastating loss, we are reaching out to our extended family, friends, and community for support. We hope to honor Andrew’s life and ensure his daughters — his pride and joy — have the love, care, and stability he always wanted for them.
Every act of kindness, every prayer, every shared memory reminds us of how deeply Andrew was loved and how many lives he touched. His passing is a wound that will never fully heal, but his spirit will live on — in the laughter of our girls, in the lessons he taught, and in the example he set of what it means to live with generosity, courage, and love.
Andrew Cristillo’s story is one of a life lived with purpose and heart. Though his time with us ended far too soon, the legacy he leaves behind is immeasurable.
