At approximately 7:14 p.m. this evening, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of N. Hillside following reports of a shooting. Preliminary details indicate that the incident began as a rolling disturbance between the victim and the suspect while they were both in a vehicle.

According to initial reports, the victim, who was driving, stopped the vehicle in front of Wesley Medical Center. After exiting the car in an attempt to flee, the suspect, still seated in the passenger side, opened fire, striking the victim in the upper body.

The victim was rushed into surgery but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The gunfire also struck Wesley Medical Center during the altercation. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported at the medical center.

Witnesses have described the suspect as a white male, over six feet tall, with a slender build. After the shooting, the suspect was seen fleeing the area with a firearm. Authorities have advised that he is considered armed and dangerous.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Police have pledged to provide updates as more details become available.
