Authorities have confirmed that Adrian Aaron Aaby, 48, of Grass Valley, tragically lost his life in a homicide, with his remains discovered along Banner Quaker Hill Road in Nevada City on July 21, 2025.

The remains were found by a father and son who contacted 911, leading to the investigation by the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office. Initial evidence indicated that Aaby’s death was a result of foul play. Following a thorough investigation, 49-year-old Damon Abraham, also from Grass Valley, was identified as a person of interest in the case.

On August 7, a search warrant was executed at Abraham’s residence, although he was not present at the time. Later that day, Abraham was apprehended in Sacramento by California State Parks officers on unrelated charges. He has since been charged with homicide and is currently in custody at the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.
