he Cambria County community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of 53-year-old Fatima Boughroum, who died Sunday afternoon after being struck by a falling tree while gardening at her home.

Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees confirmed that the fatal incident occurred at Boughroum’s residence in the 900 block of Bedford Street. According to investigators, she had been tending to her garden when a large ash tree, estimated to be decayed, suddenly broke and fell approximately 60 feet.

The tree, weighing close to 1,000 pounds, struck Boughroum, killing her instantly.

Authorities described the incident as a heartbreaking accident, noting the apparent decay in the tree’s structure. No foul play is suspected.

Loved ones and neighbors remember Boughroum as a kind and vibrant woman who enjoyed spending time outdoors and caring for her home. Her sudden passing leaves a deep void in the community she called home.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
