A tragic incident claimed the life of 50-year-old Ju Nine from Utica, NY, when she was struck by a minivan while walking along Mapledale Road late Monday night, August 11, 2025.

According to the New York State Police, the collision occurred shortly before midnight, at approximately 11:50 p.m. on State Route 8, near Mapledale Road. Officers arrived on the scene to find Nine, who was walking in the roadway, had been hit by a 2018 Dodge Caravan driven by 71-year-old Lysle A. Jones of Leonardsville, NY. Despite efforts by emergency responders, Ju Nine was declared dead at the scene.
