The Tucson community is mourning the loss of 64-year-old James Richard Forshey, who died Monday morning, August 11, following a tragic motorcycle crash on East Valencia Road.
According to the Tucson Police Department, officers from Operations Division South and the Tucson Fire Department responded to the scene at around 7 a.m. after reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. When crews arrived, they found Forshey suffering from severe injuries. Despite immediate life-saving efforts from medics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that Forshey was riding his 2001 Harley Davidson westbound in the median lane when his motorcycle collided with a Dodge Journey station wagon. The Dodge was attempting to turn north into a private driveway when the crash occurred.
Police confirmed that the driver and passengers of the Dodge remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation. An officer from the Impaired Driving Enforcement Unit ruled out alcohol or drug impairment as factors in the crash.
Detectives noted that Forshey was not wearing a helmet at the time. They also identified the Dodge driver’s failure to yield to oncoming traffic during the left-hand turn as the primary contributing factor. Toxicology results for Forshey will be determined through medical records.
No charges or citations have been issued, and the investigation remains ongoing. Forshey’s death serves as a somber reminder of the importance of caution and awareness on the roadways.
