Two women, identified as Cynthia Schade and Donna Stevens, lost their lives Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle collision on Ranch Road 165.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 2:43 p.m. on August 10 when a black Mercedes SUV rear-ended a Subaru Outlander. The force of the impact sent the Outlander spinning into the opposite lane, where it was struck by a Hyundai Santa Fe.
Schade and Stevens, who were in the Outlander, were pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Hyundai were transported to a medical facility with injuries.
Authorities said the driver of the Mercedes, identified as Alexandra Jackson, fled the scene but was later located and arrested. She now faces numerous charges, including two counts of intoxication manslaughter, two counts of intoxication assault, two counts of accident involving death, two counts of accident involving serious bodily injury, two counts of tampering with evidence, and possession of marijuana under two ounces.
The investigation remains ongoing.
