A 22-year-old Imo’s Pizza employee, identified as Jakob McKeage, has been charged after allegedly stabbing a man outside the Ferguson location Tuesday night when the victim repeatedly asked for food.
According to authorities, the victim entered the restaurant and requested food, but McKeage told him there was none available and suggested he get a job. The man later went to the back of the building near the dumpster, where McKeage allegedly followed while armed with a kitchen knife to take out the trash.
Investigators say the victim once again asked for food and a drink before McKeage lunged at him, stabbing him. The victim fled, but McKeage is accused of chasing him and stabbing him a second time in the lower torso. A witness saw the man running for help and called police.
The victim was transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital for treatment of his injuries and significant blood loss. Police say McKeage returned to the kitchen after the attack, washed the knife, placed it back in the knife block, and later confessed to officers.
McKeage is now facing charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and tampering with physical evidence. A warrant has been issued with bond set at $100,000. No mugshot has been released at this time.
