Murder Charges Filed Against Tallahassee Woman in Toddler Drowning Case

The Tallahassee Police Department has arrested 24-year-old Raymona Ford in connection with the death of a 2-year-old boy, concluding a months-long investigation that determined the child’s drowning was the result of foul play.

On May 9, 2025, officers responded to the Magnolia Terrace Apartments after receiving a report that a child had drowned in a bathtub. First responders immediately performed life-saving measures before the child was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Tragically, he died four days later from his injuries.

According to investigators, evidence gathered throughout the investigation — including findings from the Medical Examiner’s Office — revealed that Ford had struck the child multiple times, causing seizures before leaving him unattended in the bathtub, where he ultimately drowned.

Following consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, Ford was taken into custody on August 13 and charged with murder.

“This arrest reflects our unwavering commitment to seek justice for our community’s most vulnerable,” TPD said in a statement.
