52-year-old Madeleine Blanco-Garcia of Dumas, Texas Dies in U.S. 287 Crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified 52-year-old Madeleine Blanco-Garcia of Dumas, Texas, as the victim of a deadly crash on U.S. 287 on Wednesday, August 13.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near the Rifle Range Road exit. The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS, and Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

According to DPS spokesperson Sergeant Juan Gutierrez, the driver of a Ford Edge went off the roadway into the center median before overcorrecting and returning to the roadway. The vehicle then entered the right lane, which was closed for roadwork, and struck an unoccupied roadwork attenuator. The driver of the Ford Edge was unharmed.

Blanco-Garcia was transported to United Regional Hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The community mourns the loss of Blanco-Garcia, and her family is being supported during this difficult time.
