The Clarksville community is grieving the loss of 87-year-old Martha Knight, who passed away Thursday afternoon, just days after a tragic head-on collision that also claimed the life of her husband, 90-year-old William Knight.
According to the Clarksville Police Department, the crash occurred on Tuesday, August 12, along Memorial Drive. Investigators say the Knight’s vehicle was struck head-on by another vehicle that had crossed into the opposite lane of travel.
William Knight was pronounced dead at the scene. Martha, who was a passenger in the vehicle, and another female passenger were both airlifted to a Nashville hospital for treatment. Sadly, Martha succumbed to her injuries on Thursday. The other passenger’s condition remains unknown, though police reported she was in stable condition on Wednesday.
