Authorities in Bernalillo County have launched a homicide investigation following the death of 36-year-old Bianca Ruiz, whose body was discovered late Monday, August 11, in far west Albuquerque

According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at 11:51 p.m. to the area of 12232 High Mesa Drive Northwest, near the Water Authority Tower. Upon arrival, they spoke with the reporting party and located an unresponsive woman lying beside a dirt arroyo. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday, August 14, the Office of the Medical Investigator identified the victim as Bianca Ruiz. Detectives have confirmed that the case is being treated as a homicide based on the injuries observed and evidence collected at the scene.
