Lubbock Man, 39, Killed in Head-On Collision on SH 302 in Loving County

Tragedy struck Thursday night, August 14, when a fatal head-on collision claimed the life of 39-year-old Joshua Andrew Ramirez of Lubbock, Texas. The crash occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. on State Highway 302 near mile marker 203 in Loving County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Ramirez, was traveling eastbound when it veered into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a 2019 International semi-truck towing a trailer. The impact was severe. Authorities confirmed that Ramirez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck, identified as 41-year-old Mariza Herrera Guerrero of El Centro, California, was properly restrained and sustained only minor injuries. She was transported to Winkler County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Officials have not yet determined the cause of the collision, and the incident remains under investigation.

Family, friends, and the Lubbock community are mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Joshua, remembering him as a cherished loved one whose life ended far too soon. The crash serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of roadway safety and the need for seatbelt use at all times.
