Salem Man, 45, Killed in Power Line Accident While Landscaping

The Salem, New Hampshire community is mourning the sudden loss of Marc Glaser, 45, who tragically died in a workplace accident on Thursday afternoon.

According to officials, Glaser and another landscape worker were operating a manlift to prune trees and bushes near the Service Credit Union at 158 North Broadway when the lift accidentally made contact with live power lines. The incident occurred just before 1:30 p.m., Salem Assistant Fire Chief Kennett Colby confirmed.

Emergency responders arrived to find Glaser deceased in the bucket of the hydraulic lift, positioned near a tangle of overhead power lines along Route 28 in the town’s busy business district. A second worker, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to a Boston-area hospital for treatment.

In a statement released Friday, the Salem Police Department officially identified Glaser and expressed condolences to his family and loved ones. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the state’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner also responded to the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Jake Genest of the Salem Police Department.

Friends, family, and colleagues remember Marc Glaser as a dedicated worker and a kind-hearted man whose life ended far too soon. His passing is a sobering reminder of the dangers faced by those working near power lines.
