Authorities have identified the man who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident at a city intersection on Tuesday evening as 41-year-old Dennis Barriera of Waterbury.
According to Waterbury Police Lt. Ryan Bessette, the fatal collision occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at the intersection of East Main and Baldwin streets. Barriera was riding his motorcycle when he collided with another vehicle. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was unharmed and remained on the scene following the accident. Lt. Bessette confirmed that the department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine contributing factors.
