Winnipeg police have launched a homicide investigation after the death of 26-year-old Breydon Henry Cadieux-Kwiatkowski. Officers responded to a call regarding an unresponsive man in the 600 block of Boyd Avenue on August 5, 2025, just after 7:00 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found Cadieux-Kwiatkowski with significant injuries. Emergency responders provided immediate medical assistance, and he was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite these efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities announced an update on August 12, confirming the arrests of 27-year-old Darian Allen Gaige SAM and 64-year-old David Allen KIRTON in connection with the fatal incident. SAM has been charged with manslaughter and violating a release order, while KIRTON is accused of assisting him in fleeing the scene. Police noted that SAM and the victim were previously acquainted.

The Winnipeg Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Cadieux-Kwiatkowski’s death and is urging anyone with information to contact authorities. The community remains in shock over the loss of a young life in these tragic circumstances.
