The Houston community is mourning the tragic death of 13-year-old Za’Wight Johnson, who was fatally shot on August 10 in west Houston.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded shortly before 3 p.m. to a residence in the 1200 block of Ashford Meadow Drive, where they found Johnson with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital but tragically did not survive his injuries. Investigators reported evidence of gunfire in the parking area of the townhome complex and indicated that the teenager was inside the living room when the shooting occurred.
Authorities have arrested 27-year-old Cameron Clark Jackson in connection with the fatal shooting. Jackson faces a murder charge and was apprehended by the HPD Westside Patrol Divisional Gang Unit. Court records indicate his bail was set at $500,000.
