The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has issued an urgent Amber Alert following the abduction of a two-year-old girl, Aurora Alexis, on Saturday afternoon. Authorities are asking for the public’s immediate assistance in locating the child and ensuring her safe return.
According to investigators, the incident occurred in the area of 106 Street and 31 Avenue on Edmonton’s south side. Around that time, Aurora was reportedly taken by Leonard Willier, a man police have identified as the suspected abductor.
Following the abduction, Willier is believed to have fled the scene with the child in a vehicle described as a white 2018 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, bearing a Saskatchewan license plate with the number 786 JBH.
Police have emphasized the seriousness of the situation and the urgent need to locate Aurora. In their official statement, they warned the public not to approach Willier if he is spotted.
Instead, individuals are asked to call 911 immediately or contact their local law enforcement agency. EPS stressed that time is critical in these cases, and the cooperation of the public could play a crucial role in bringing Aurora home safely.
Amber Alerts are issued only in the most serious child abduction cases, when police believe that a child’s life or safety is at immediate risk. The alert system, which broadcasts information through television, radio, highway signs, and mobile devices, is designed to quickly engage the public and enlist as many eyes and ears as possible in the search. Authorities noted that every detail counts—whether it’s a sighting of the truck, the licence plate, or anything unusual involving a child matching Aurora’s description.
The Edmonton Police Service is working in coordination with other law enforcement agencies across Alberta and neighboring provinces to widen the search. Given that the suspect’s truck has Saskatchewan plates, police believe it is possible that Willier may attempt to leave the province. Officers have asked motorists, truck drivers, and travelers to remain vigilant, especially along highways and at border crossings.
Aurora’s family has been notified, and victim services are providing support during this deeply distressing time. Community members in Edmonton have expressed shock and concern, with many sharing the Amber Alert notice across social media platforms in hopes of speeding up her safe recovery.
Authorities continue to urge residents to pay attention to the details of the vehicle: a white Toyota Tundra, model year 2018, with Saskatchewan plate 786 JBH. Anyone who sees the truck, the suspect, or the child is asked not to intervene directly, but to call police immediately with as much detail as possible.
The EPS reiterated in its alert: “We need the public’s help to bring Aurora home. Do not approach the suspect. Call 911 right away if you see anything matching the descriptions provided.”
As of now, the Amber Alert remains active, and law enforcement officials are working around the clock to locate Aurora Alexis and ensure her safety.
