A tragic single-vehicle crash along Interstate 10 near Louise Street claimed the life of 34-year-old Cody Pounds early Saturday morning, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Police reported the incident occurred around 2:28 a.m. when the driver failed to navigate the exit properly. The vehicle struck crash attenuators and a concrete curb before falling off the interstate.

Pounds, a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
