A woman was killed in a tragic crash early Saturday morning in Midland, and another driver is now facing serious charges.
According to the Midland Police Department, officers were called to the 3200 block of North Midland Drive following reports of a collision. Investigators say a black 1999 Jeep Wrangler was stopped at the intersection, waiting at a red light, when it was struck from behind by a white 2017 Ford F-250.
The driver of the Jeep, a 32-year-old Midland woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released, but police confirmed that next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the Ford, 40-year-old Gilbert Perez, was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony.
Authorities say the case remains under active investigation.
Do you want me to make a condolence-focused version (highlighting the woman’s memory and the community’s grief), or keep it strictly as a news report?
