Harjinder Singh Arrested; 3 killed after semi attempts U-turn on Florida Turnpike; driver faces deportation

Harjinder Singh Arrested;- A truck driver is currently facing homicide charges following a crash that resulted in the deaths of three individuals in St. Lucie County on Tuesday, as reported by WFLA.

The driver has been identified as 28-year-old Harjinder Singh from California.

He was operating a semi-truck on the Florida Turnpike in St. Lucie County when law enforcement officials stated that he attempted to execute a U-turn at a designated turnaround area. This area was marked with a no U-turn sign indicating “for official use only,” according to WFLA.

As the driver performed the illegal U-turn, it blocked all northbound lanes. A minivan was unable to decelerate in time and became lodged beneath the truck.

The two passengers in the minivan were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver succumbed to injuries at the hospital. According to the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), investigators later found that Singh, the semi-truck driver, had unlawfully entered the United States in 2018 by crossing the Mexican border.

The FLHSMV also reported that Singh has been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide and is currently in the custody of ICE, as stated by WFLA.
