Charles Eugene Iseman Arrested; – A man has lost his life following a shooting that occurred after a dispute over beer and cigarettes on Monday night at a homeless encampment in DeLand, as reported by officials.

Officers from the DeLand Police Department responded to shooting reports at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday, August 18, at the Dollar General store located at 745 N. Spring Garden Ave.

Through their investigation, police established that the incident took place in a homeless camp located in the wooded area behind the store. A 67-year-old man was discovered deceased at the scene. Investigators indicated that the man’s identity is being withheld until next of kin have been notified.

Officials secured the area and recovered the firearm. The investigation indicated that the shooting resulted from an altercation earlier that evening concerning beer and cigarettes.

The suspect has been identified as 36-year-old Charles Eugene Iseman, who has been apprehended and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Iseman is currently facing a charge of second-degree murder.
