Thomas Jeffries Jr., 34, has died following a shooting Wednesday night at a residence on the 400 block of Poplar Street in Graham. Authorities say the incident stemmed from a “family dispute.”

Jeffries was transported to a nearby medical facility after being shot in the abdomen but succumbed to his injuries. Investigators have identified 59-year-old James Thomas Daye, a resident of the same home, as the suspect. Daye was taken into custody at the scene without incident and has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held at the Alamance County Jail without bond, with a hearing scheduled Thursday afternoon.

The Graham Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The community is mourning the loss of Jeffries, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
