A Little Rock School District employee was fatally shot Tuesday near the Rockefeller Early Childhood Center, located close to the I-30 and I-630 interchange.

Authorities identified the suspect as Hayes Jalise, also known as Jal Ise, who was taken into custody by police shortly after the incident.

The shooting occurred near 15th and Bragg, outside the early childhood school, leaving the community in shock. Details surrounding the motive remain under investigation.

The Little Rock School District expressed condolences to the victim’s family and emphasized that student safety remains a top priority. Law enforcement officials are asking anyone with information to assist in the ongoing investigation.
