Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Wednesday morning in the Town of Camillus, claiming the life of a local woman and injuring several others.
According to New York State Police, the collision happened on August 20 at approximately 11:10 a.m. on West Genesee Street. Investigators say a 2025 Chevrolet Trax traveling eastbound crossed the center line, sideswiping a 2014 Toyota Sienna before continuing into the westbound lane and colliding head-on with a 2020 BMW 330 Series.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 74-year-old Darlene A. Cushman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the BMW and Toyota, along with their passengers, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation were called to assist in processing the crash site.
Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing as they work to determine the circumstances that led to the deadly crash.
