A 74-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision Saturday morning in Baltimore County, and police say an unlicensed teenage driver is facing charges in connection with the crash.
Authorities identified the victim as Patricia Cook, who was driving a 2019 Honda Fit at the time of the wreck.
The Baltimore County Police Department reported that the crash happened around 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of New Town Boulevard and Middle Mill Drive. Investigators said a Jeep, driven by an undisclosed 16-year-old, was traveling northbound on New Town Boulevard at a potentially high rate of speed when it struck Cook’s vehicle.
Detectives believe Cook was attempting to make a left turn from Middle Mill Drive onto New Town Boulevard when the collision occurred. Medics arrived to find her trapped inside the Honda, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the teen driver fled the scene immediately after the crash but later returned with a relative. Authorities also confirmed that the teen did not have a valid driver’s license.
Charges against the juvenile are pending, though officials have not disclosed whether the teen will be charged as an adult. The case remains under investigation by crash detectives.
The Baltimore County Police Department has not released additional details.
