Authorities have identified the victim of a deadly Waffle House shooting and are asking for the public’s help in locating one of the suspects still on the run.

Deputies say the shooting happened Wednesday, August 20, at the Waffle House on Talbot Drive near Tobacco Road. Responding officers found 23-year-old Antoine Stokes, of Martinez, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital but tragically died from his injuries on Thursday afternoon, according to Coroner Mark Bowen.

Investigators quickly identified two suspects connected to the case. Layla Bennett, 23, was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. She remains in custody as the investigation continues.

The second suspect, Jalen Thomas, 26, is wanted for murder in connection with Stokes’ death. Officials have issued active warrants for his arrest and warn the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous. Authorities believe Thomas may frequent areas near Tobacco Road and Robert C. Daniel Jr. Parkway.
