15-Year-Old Passenger Killed in Darlington County Crash

A tragic crash in Darlington County Friday night claimed the life of 15-year-old Annabelle Andrews, authorities said. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m., approximately six miles north of Hartsville on West Old Camden Road.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), a pickup truck attempted to pass another vehicle traveling westbound when it struck the front of the car. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn into a ditch and collide with a utility pole.

Annabelle Andrews, a sophomore at McBee High School, was a passenger in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee. The driver of the car sustained injuries and was transported to Carolina Pines Hospital, while the pickup driver was unharmed.

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation by the SCHP.

The community mourns the loss of a young life, and officials continue to urge caution on roadways to prevent similar tragedies.
