Cameron Park Double Homicide: Woman and Child Killed, Cal Fire Employee Arrested

Authorities have identified the woman killed in a suspected double homicide in El Dorado County as 29-year-old Marissa N. Divodi-Lessa of Shingle Springs.

The deadly incident occurred Friday morning at a home on the 3000 block of Oakwood Road in Cameron Park. Deputies with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire and arrived to find Divodi-Lessa and a young boy with gunshot wounds. Divodi-Lessa was pronounced dead at the scene, while the boy was transported to a hospital but later died. A second young boy inside the residence was found unharmed.

Investigators have arrested 47-year-old Darin McFarlin, a Cal Fire employee, in connection with the killings. McFarlin was located in Mono County and booked into the El Dorado County Jail on two counts of homicide. He is being held without bail as the case remains under investigation.

Officials have not released a motive for the violence. The Sheriff’s Office expressed condolences to the families and community members affected, calling the tragedy “devastating” and pledging to pursue justice for the victims.

The case has drawn widespread attention given McFarlin’s employment with Cal Fire. Authorities say additional details will be shared as the investigation continues.

The community of Cameron Park is reeling from the loss, particularly of the child, with friends, neighbors, and family members mourning both lives cut short.
