Kentucky State Police (KSP) are investigating a fatal multi-vehicle collision that occurred Friday, August 22, near the 4000 block of KY 10.
According to preliminary reports, a black Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Joshua Childers of Germantown, Kentucky, with passengers Elizabeth Appleman and Jimmy Keller, struck a disabled red Chevrolet Corvette. The Corvette’s driver, 62-year-old Brian Heron of Maysville, Kentucky, was attempting to push his vehicle out of the roadway when he was struck.
The Trailblazer then continued forward and collided with a black Toyota Camry operated by Eden Ballard of Brooksville. Heron was pronounced dead at the scene by the Mason County Coroner.
Childers, Keller, and Ballard were transported to Meadowview Hospital in stable condition. Appleman sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
KSP was assisted on scene by Mason County EMS, the Mason County Sheriff’s Department, the Mason County Coroner’s Office, and additional KSP personnel. The collision remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by Trooper Dakota Rasche.
Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
