Teen Dies After Electric Motorbike Accident

Authorities have identified the teenage boy who died Wednesday while riding an electric motorbike in Ewa Beach as 15-year-old Maddex Fiesta. The Honolulu medical examiner reported that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Police said the incident occurred just before 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Kolowaka Drive and Fort Weaver Road. Fiesta was reportedly crossing the street on his motorbike in a marked crosswalk but against a “do not walk” signal when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 75-year-old motorist.

The Campbell High School student was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Investigators noted that Fiesta was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
