Woman Injured in Head-On Accident Near Bay Minette

A 40-year-old woman suffered injuries Friday afternoon in a head-on collision in Baldwin County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Amanda Howell was driving a Mazda CX-5 when it was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 41-year-old man from Foley. The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on State Route 287 near the 5-mile marker, roughly five miles north of Bay Minette. Howell was transported to North Baldwin Infirmary with unspecified injuries.

Although head-on collisions account for only 2% of crashes nationwide, they are responsible for more than 10% of crash-related fatalities. Authorities noted that speeding, distracted driving, and driving under the influence are among the leading causes of serious accidents.

Candice Bond, auto accident attorney, emphasized that driver error is often the primary factor in crashes like this. “It’s crucial to investigate all potential causes, including speeding, distraction, or impairment,” Bond said. She added that victims should have timely access to legal representation to ensure evidence is preserved and reviewed properly.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, Howell may be entitled to a personal injury claim for medical costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma, according to Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
