Driver Killed in Tragic Crash Involving Semi-Truck in Carter County

CARTER COUNTY, Okla. — A tragic accident in Carter County claimed the life of a driver during the early morning hours of Sunday, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash occurred when a semi-truck, operated by Tucker Coppin, 23, of Elmore City, attempted to make a left turn off Cargo Road onto westbound Highway 7. As the semi entered the highway, its trailer was struck by another vehicle traveling westbound.

The collision was severe, and the driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, pending notification of family members.

Coppin, the semi-truck driver, was unharmed in the incident. Investigators with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are continuing to examine the circumstances leading to the crash, including roadway conditions and potential contributing factors.

The crash prompted emergency crews to temporarily close parts of Highway 7 while responders worked at the scene. Traffic was later restored after officials completed their initial investigation and cleared debris from the roadway.
