DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. — A tragic crash early Saturday morning on County Road 60 resulted in the death of 22-year-old Riley F. Murphy of Indianapolis.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Murphy was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado westbound when the vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with a large tree on the south side of the road. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Murphy was pronounced dead due to the severity of the crash.

Authorities have indicated that speed may have been a contributing factor in the incident. The Indiana State Police, along with other local agencies, are assisting the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office in an ongoing investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
