Danbury, CT – A tragic single-car crash early Sunday morning claimed the life of 19-year-old Mary Cordero, a passenger in the vehicle, and left four others injured, authorities reported.

Emergency crews responded to Berkshire Road, just west of Zoar Road, around 2:40 a.m., where they discovered a heavily damaged 2017 Ford Mustang that had collided with a large tree. Cordero was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the Mustang was traveling west at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and crash.

Four other occupants were transported to Danbury Hospital, with two reported to have sustained critical injuries. Authorities confirmed that the crash remains under investigation, and further details about the driver or other passengers have not been released.

Officials are reminding drivers to exercise caution on roadways, particularly at high speeds and on curves, as investigations continue into the cause of this devastating incident.
