Arjun Gill Calgary Death – Police say excessive speed is believed to be a factor in a fatal motorcycle collision that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man Sunday night. Shortly before midnight, police responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV at 16th Avenue and 10th Street N.W.

“It is believed an SUV operated by a woman in her 30s was turning from southbound 10 Street on to eastbound 16 Avenue N.W.,” police said in a news release. “At the same time, a motorcycle, operated by a 20-year-old man, was travelling westbound on 16 Avenue N.W., approaching the intersection at a high rate of speed.”Police say the motorcyclist failed to stop at a red traffic signal before entering the intersection.

The motorcycle then struck the SUV, causing the rider to be thrown from the motorcycle, police said. The motorcyclist was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition but later died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the SUV was assessed at the scene by EMS and confirmed to have no injuries.
