Scituate, MA – Authorities are investigating the shocking death of 27-year-old Declan Perry of Portland, Maine, whose body was discovered over the weekend inside a vehicle parked at South Shore Hospital in Scituate, Massachusetts.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office confirmed on Monday that Perry was found unresponsive in the back seat of a 2019 black Honda Civic, wrapped in multiple blankets and secured with duct tape. Hospital staff first noticed the vehicle around 2:07 p.m. on Saturday and alerted Weymouth Police after suspecting the presence of a deceased person. Emergency personnel pronounced Perry dead at approximately 2:15 p.m.

Officials described the circumstances as highly unusual and are treating the death as suspicious. A hospital coordinator reportedly approached the vehicle and discovered Perry “wrapped in multiple blankets secured with duct tape,” prompting an immediate law enforcement response.

Following the discovery, residents of a nearby condominium complex along the Driftway contacted Scituate Police, reporting that they had earlier witnessed a man loading a large, heavy blanket into the Honda Civic at a neighbor’s residence. Police obtained a search warrant for the residence and seized several items of evidence, now being analyzed as part of the investigation.

Authorities have also identified a person of interest, described as someone known to Perry, though no charges have been confirmed at this time. Investigators from the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, in coordination with the Plymouth County DA’s Office and Scituate Police, are actively pursuing leads to determine what led to Perry’s death.
