MERIGOLD, MS — Authorities in Bolivar County are investigating a tragic shooting that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man on Friday afternoon. The Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Jacoby Broadway, a resident of Renova, was found deceased on Bayou Road in Merigold after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

The incident occurred on August 22, 2025, around 3:00 p.m., when deputies responded to reports of an unresponsive individual along the roadway. Upon arrival, officers discovered Broadway lying on the side of the road and immediately attempted emergency interventions. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are treating the shooting as an active homicide case. The Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department has launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including potential motives, suspects, and the timeline leading up to the fatal shooting.
