CLENDENIN, WV Community Mourns Sudden Loss of Christopher Allen Jeffery

CLENDENIN, WV – The Clendenin community is mourning the loss of Christopher Allen Jeffery, 43, who passed away after a courageous battle with colon cancer.

Born on November 3, 1981, in Charleston, WV, Chris was the son of Louie and Loretta Jeffery. A graduate of Riverside High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the West Virginia University Institute of Technology.

Chris dedicated his career to caring for others, serving as the dayshift charge nurse on 4 West at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division. His leadership and compassion earned him the CAMC Nurse Excellence Award in 2019, a testament to the impact he had on both colleagues and patients.

Outside of work, Chris was known for his humor, playful spirit, and devotion to his family. An avid Star Wars fan, he cherished spending time with his children, often watching them play hockey — moments he considered his greatest joy.

He is survived by his beloved children, Peyton and Vayda Jeffery, and their mother, Kelly Jeffery of Mount Carbon, WV; his parents, Louie and Loretta Jeffery of Clendenin; sister Candace “Grace” Jones (Justin) of Clendenin; brother Louie “Allen” Jeffery (Madonna) of Cabin Creek; aunt Louella Ellis (Wayne) of Lexington, NC; and many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Hafer Funeral Home in Elkview, WV, followed by a service at 7:30 p.m., officiated by Minister Michael Circle.

The Jeffery family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, and medical teams who provided Chris with dedicated care throughout his journey, including specialists at Charleston Area Medical Center, Johns Hopkins, Duke Cancer Center, Duke Neurosurgery, and Kanawha Hospice Care.
