Kaleeza Fox,James Myron Bellamy Obituary, Death; – A Little River bar that has faced scrutiny after a fatal shooting on New Year’s Eve in 2023 is now being sued by the mother of one of the victims.
Kaleeza Fox’s 19-year-old son, K’Ron, was celebrating at the Drinking Class Bar and Grill located on Waterway Plaza near Highway 9 and Sea Mountain Highway when he was shot around 11 p.m. on December 31, 2023.
Both Fox and James Myron Bellamy, aged 20, succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while two additional individuals sustained injuries. In December, Bellamy’s mother, Kenyatta Crawford, initiated a negligence lawsuit against the bar.
In her lawsuit, Fox holds Drinking Class, its proprietors John Scott and Chester Wheeler, along with two unidentified individuals alleged to be accessories to the shooting, accountable.
Approximately three weeks prior to the incident, the bar’s management had a meeting with Horry County police to address concerns regarding gang members observed on the premises. According to the lawsuit, authorities had responded to incidents at Drinking Class 37 times throughout 2023.
In February 2024, the bar’s owners agreed to the revocation of its alcohol permit and license.
In the court’s order to suspend the bar’s license, it was concluded that the establishment “has not acted upon the prior recommendations of HCPD and the remedial measures which it plans to implement are inadequate to guarantee the safety and welfare of the public.”
