KALISPELL, Mont. – A tragic crash near Whitefish has resulted in felony charges for a 20-year-old driver after a teenager lost her life early Saturday morning.
Authorities identified the driver as Andrew Sullivan of Marion, who now faces a charge of negligent homicide following the deadly incident.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 2 a.m. when Sullivan was driving a Dodge Ram with two 17-year-old passengers. Investigators say the truck drifted off Mountain Meadow Road, struck a tree, then went down an embankment before hitting another tree.
A 17-year-old girl from Bigfork, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers reported finding alcohol and marijuana containers inside the truck. Sullivan’s preliminary breath test indicated a .057 BAC, and he was transported to Logan Health for a blood draw.
Court documents also revealed Sullivan’s history, noting he had been cited for DUI in May. He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Flathead County District Court on September 4.
The Montana Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
