Mattix T Sandifer Obituary, Death; – The Illinois State Police has announced that an investigation into a fatal accident in Saline County, which occurred on August 8, is currently underway, with potential charges forthcoming.

As reported by ISP, 21-year-old Jacob C. Ahrens from Ridgway was traveling south on Illinois 34 when his pickup truck veered off the road and into a ditch.

ISP indicated that Ahrens and a passenger, 20-year-old Konner C. Pemberton, also from Ridgway, were both airlifted to a regional hospital due to their injuries. A second passenger, identified by ISP as 20-year-old Mattix T. Sandifer, also from Ridgway, tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

ISP stated that as the investigation progresses, they are collaborating closely with the Saline County State’s Attorney’s Office regarding the potential issuance of charges.

At this moment, no further details concerning the possible charges or additional information about the accident are being disclosed. While emergency crews were responding to the initial crash, a secondary accident occurred.

ISP reported that two troopers had their squad cars positioned to block westbound traffic on IL-34 when an SUV collided with the rear of one of the squad cars.
Both troopers were outside their vehicles at the time of this incident.

The driver of the SUV, identified by ISP as 66-year-old Sandra S. Kahl from Thompsonville, Illinois, received citations for violations of the Move Over Law and for failing to reduce speed to prevent an accident.

Neither Kahl nor the troopers sustained injuries in this incident.
