CHICAGO — Chicago police have announced charges against 29-year-old Danya Bell following the tragic accidental shooting of her 5-year-old brother on Sunday. Bell has been charged with Felony Child Endangerment resulting in death and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, August 27.

Authorities said Bell called 911 after her young brother accidentally shot himself in the head with her firearm. The child was pronounced deceased at Comer Children’s Hospital. Police confirmed that no one else was in the home at the time to supervise him.

The incident comes on a particularly tragic day for the city, as several other individuals, including a 17-year-old boy, also died from gunshot wounds to the head, ruled as suicide or homicide.

The Chicago community is mourning these heartbreaking losses, and authorities are urging families to stay vigilant with firearms and seek support during such tragedies.
