PLEASANT HILL, La. — A tragic accident Tuesday night claimed the life of a 28-year-old Pleasant Hill woman, according to the Louisiana State Police.
Shortly before 10 p.m., troopers from LSP Troop E responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Progress Church Road and WPA Road. The driver, identified as Victoria Grantham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say Grantham was traveling south on WPA Road when she failed to stop at the intersection. Her vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree. Authorities confirmed that she was not wearing a seatbelt, which contributed to the severity of her injuries.
Routine toxicology samples were collected and are pending analysis as the investigation continues.
State police are urging all motorists to wear seatbelts and use caution, stressing that many fatal crashes in Louisiana involve impaired driving, speed, or lack of restraint use.
