On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at approximately 10:33 p.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the 1500 block of West Monroe Street (Missouri Highway 22) in reference to a two-vehicle crash.
According to officials, a 34-year-old Centralia man, identified as **Harrison Washington**, was driving a 2006 Ford passenger car eastbound when his vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a 1999 Freightliner truck pulling a trailer. The Freightliner, driven by a 72-year-old Mexico man, was loaded with soybean meal. Emergency personnel reported that Washington died at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner was uninjured. Traffic along the highway was slowed until approximately 4:00 a.m. while crews worked to remove the truck and trailer. The crash remains under investigation by the Mexico Public Safety Department. Friends and loved ones described Harrison Washington as a loving and caring man who was deeply adored by many.
