Julio Bonilla Obituary, Death; – A man has lost his life following an accident on Route 1 and Montgomery Road on Wednesday morning.

Authorities report that a pedestrian, identified as Julio Bonilla, 55, from Beltsville, was declared dead at the scene.

Maryland State Police troopers arrived at the crash site at approximately 5:44 a.m. after receiving reports of a collision. The police have not disclosed the cause of the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing. Investigators have stated that Bonilla was struck and killed by a driver operating a RAV4. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any injuries.

Traffic is being redirected to Sunnyside Avenue to bypass the area. Motorists should anticipate delays in the vicinity and consider using alternative routes if feasible. According to traffic officials, all northbound lanes of US-1 are closed at Montgomery Road, while the southbound lanes remain open to traffic.
