Wanda Taylor Fatally Stabbed in Her National City Home; Suspect Arrested

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — Authorities say a man posing as a door-to-door salesman brutally murdered a 71-year-old woman inside her National City home last week.

The victim, widely known as Wanda Taylor but officially identified in court documents as Wanda Fransaw, was killed on Wednesday, August 20, in her residence on Division Street near D Avenue.

Prosecutors allege that Noel Trevino, 30, targeted Taylor after approaching her home dressed as a salesman. Investigators say Trevino initially made contact with the homeowner during the morning hours, then lingered in the neighborhood. Surveillance footage reportedly captured him circling the property and testing various entry points.

According to the investigation, when Taylor returned home from running an errand around midday, Trevino allegedly ambushed her. He is accused of striking her twice with a large rock before stabbing her multiple times with kitchen knives taken from her home.

After the attack, Trevino attempted to flee by jumping from a second-story window, but witnesses alerted police. Authorities used a K-9 unit and other non-lethal tactics to subdue and arrest him.

Neighbors and community members have been left shaken by the violent incident, describing Taylor as a kind and well-respected woman whose loss has devastated those who knew her.

Trevino has since been charged in connection with the murder, and prosecutors are moving forward with the case. Authorities have confirmed that this was an isolated incident, though the investigation remains ongoing.
